Interns Weigh the Costs and Benefits of Interning in New York City

Hofstra University students, Christina Muphry and Abby Drapeau discuss their internships and daily commutes into the city, weighing the costs and benefits of their gained work experience. Students in the School of Communications at Hofstra are required to complete several internships, totaling three credits during their junior and senior years. Internships allow a student to work in an office environment, trying out their career of choice and picking up important skills. However, interns are in many cases unpaid leaving transportation costs up to the student to cover along with the cost of Hofstra University Credits.
